The year 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up of our country. In the past four decades, our country has seen rapid economic and social developments and has been the world’s second largest economy since 2010. President Xi Jinping, when receiving the delegation from Hong Kong and Macao who were in Beijing in November to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up, underlined the unique and irreplaceable role of the two special administrative regions in the country’s reform and opening-up in the new era. He also remarked that the position and role of Hong Kong and Macao would only be strengthened rather than weakened.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up of our country, the Chief Secretary for Administration chairs a steering committee to co-ordinate the celebration events organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and to encourage participation by all sectors in the community.
