Role of Beijing Office
Link between HK and CPG ministries & 10 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions
- Liaise with the ministries of the Central People's Government (CPG), as well as the governments, Beijing offices and non-government organisations of 10 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions in the northern, north-eastern and north-western region (i.e. Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Gansu and Ningxia), and provide them with information on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)
- Report to the HKSAR Government the latest developments on the Mainland
- Discuss with the Mainland authorities specific issues in accordance with the instructions of the relevant bureaux and departments of the HKSAR Government
Economic and trade liaison
- Promote economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and the 10 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions, and attract and assist enterprises from these areas to invest and set up businesses in Hong Kong
Promote Hong Kong
- Organise activities in the 10 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions to promote Hong Kong's advantages and to enhance Mainland people's understanding of Hong Kong
- Proactively reach out to target enterprises and talents, and promote various schemes and policy incentives for business and talent attraction
Liaison with Hong Kong people/Help to Hong Kong residents in
distress
- Liaise with Hong Kong people living, working or studying in the 10 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions
- Provide practical assistance to Hong Kong residents in distress on the Mainland
Immigration matters
- Process applications for entry to Hong Kong for visit, employment, investment, training, residence and education
- Liaise with CPG and diplomatic corps in Beijing on HKSAR immigration matters and visa-free arrangements
- Provide first application and replacement service for HKSAR passport as well as replacement service for HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes and Re-entry Permit for eligible Hong Kong residents
